Scarlet & Violet can be rewritten as Red & Purple. The new base set has brought significant and enduring changes to the hobby. One noticeable difference is the silver borders on the cards, now in line with the Japanese editions. Each pack now guarantees at least one holographic rare card and two reverse holos. The lowercase ex mechanic is a key feature of this era, showcasing a double holographic design with a horizontal shine and starry sparkle. Full Art ex cards now include a green, foil border around the Pokémon. Moving forward, the Secret Rare section of expansions will include Full Arts, Illustration Rares, Special Illustration Rare exs, Full Art Trainers, Special Illustration Rare Trainers, and Gold Hyper Rares.
